Staffordshire Enamels, Ltd. produces exquisite boxes in the traditional 18th century manner. Founded by Ernest Johnson in 1977 and located in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Enamels has revived the English craft of enameling on copper and is true to the Georgian tradition by refusing to use any multi-colored transfers. After a single-color transfer is applied and fired, it is fired at least six times during the manufacturing process. The final step is "touchmarking" when the artist places his or her initials beside the company mark on the base. the lid and base are then joined together by a hinged gold plated brass mount. Each box arrives in a Staffordshire Enamels red presentation box and includes a history of enamel boxes, the complete story of the company and the artistic process in producing each and every box. You may be rest assured that even a first time Staffordshire Enamels owner will know that something very special has been given!
